Goalie Ryan Miller stopped 34 shots for his 28th career win over the Leafs, the most he has against any NHL club. The line of Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville and Cody Hodgson is on fire. Vanek Vanek has six points this season after registering two goals and three assists against Philadelphia, he tallied an assist last night. In a shortened season, a fast start is paramount. The Sabres will look to go 3-0 Thursday night at Caolina.
Third Ranked Syracuse rans its home winning streak to 35 games with a come from behind win against #21 Cincinnati on Monday. On Saturday, the Orange rallied to stun top ranked Lousiville to win 70-68. Yesterday Syracuse rallied from seven points down with five minutes remaining to beat the Bearcats 57-55 win in front of 24,281 fans at the Carrier Dome on Monday.
Syracuse (18-1 overall, 6-0 Big East) trailed 51-44 with five minutes remaining, but the Orange outscored the Bearcats 13-4 in the game’s last five minutes.
Down the stretch, SU sank six out of seven field-goal attempts. Cincinnati went 1-for-6 from the field with two turnovers in those five critical minutes.
Syracuse (18-1, 6-0 ) visit Villanova on Saturday.
