While Doug Marrone does not  create the buzz say Chip Kelly would,  the Bills did think outside the box with the hiring of Marrone.

This is not a so-called sexy hire, but rather a roll of the dice hire by Russ Brandon, who's legacy will be defined by this very selection.

Marrone has NFL coaching experience serving seven seasons as an assistant with the Jets and Saints.  At Syracuse he re-built a program that hit rock bottom under Greg Robinson. The Orange were 10-37 in four years before Marrone arrived. The last four years SU was 25-25, with two bowl wins and this year held a share of the Big East title.

Marrone is not a retread, but rather a fresh face. He is a guy that played and coached in the NFL. He served under Saints head coach Sean Peyton for three years. He is a disciplinarian, a person of detail. His offensive pedigree is another strength he brings to Buffalo.  The Browns had interviewed Marrone twice.

It 's only to natural to assume that the Bills will ponder the idea of drafting SU qb Ryan Nassib. Bills GM Buddy Nix has said the Bills will draft a quarterback in April.

Is it a good hire? Only the selction of quarterback and time will tell.
