Every year we see college football and basketball coaches jump ship for a better opportunity.  Coaches change teams just as often as free agents in professional sports..

The question I have is why are not college coaches held to the same standard as the student/athlete and sit out a season. I understand this will never happen. These coaches have made promises to recruits and to their players that they are committed to be there..

Coaches who switch schools with no thought to their players or the program should have to sit out a year just as the players do. Why is there a double standard?

According to the NCAA, 40 percent of men's college basketball players will not be competing at their original school by the end of their sophomore year. A player chooses a school most of the time because of the coach.  When that coach leaves the kid is stuck, he is not free to transfer without sitting out a year and thats wrong.
