The Buffalo will play one regular season game at the Rogers Centre in Toronto for the next five years. I know this deal irks Bills fans and it should, but I understand why the Bills do it.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed but I believe it has to be below the $78 million the Bills received when the original deal to play at Rogers Centre was announced back in 2008.
Rogers Media president Keith Pelley says it was a no brainer to re-up with the Bills. The NFL is a monster, a national brand that the city needs.
It's all about expanding their brand for the Bills. According to Russ Brandon, the Bills CEO & President, fans heading from southern Ontario to the Ralph have increased from 11 per cent to over 20 per cent in the past five years. I find that number hard to comprehend.
The Bills recently extended their lease at Ralph Wilson Stadium for 10 years. However, an advisory group has also been established to explore the potential of building a new stadium for the franchise.
If and when a new stadium is built in Buffalo is when the series in Toronto I believe will come to an end.
